Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo has said that his people are calling on him to contest for the chairmanship position of the council in the forthcoming elections.
Ihunwo who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said he will respond to the call at the appropriate time.
He said, “As the Caretaker Chairman of Obio-Akpor local government area of Rivers State, the people of Rumueme Kingdom, in Obio-Akpor local government area, are asking me to contest the October 5th local government election.
They made the appeal during a courtesy visit in my office on Thursday.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Moore Oja Chinda said they are impressed with my performance so far in office.
Dr. Moore who is a two time governorship aspirant thanked me for ensuring that a son of Rumueme Kingdom is a member of my committee and for donating a transformer to the kingdom.
In my response, I thanked the people of Rumueme Kingdom for the visit.
I said all that i have done for Rumueme Kingdom and other communities in Obio-Akpor is in line with the vision of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara the Executive Governor of Rivers State to make life comfortable for all residents.
I called on the people to continue to pray for the governor to overcome all the obstacles against his administration.
I told the people of Rumueme that I will respond to their call for me to contest the October 5th local government election at the appropriate time.
