The immediate past Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that he is set to join the Rainbow Coalition associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In a disclaimer issued on Saturday, Ihunwo described the claim as false, misleading, and unverified, urging members of the public to disregard the reports.
He also stated that the image being circulated online to support the claim appeared to be based on speculation rather than verified facts.
The former council chairman advised the public to rely only on official statements from him or credible news organisations before drawing conclusions.
“The image circulating on social media appears to be based on speculation rather than verified facts. The public is advised to disregard unsubstantiated reports and rely only on official communications from me or credible news organizations before drawing conclusions,” he said.
Ihunwo further stressed the need for responsible journalism and urged social media users to verify information before sharing it, warning against the spread of fake news in an era of widespread misinformation.
“In an era of misinformation, it is important to verify information before sharing it. Let’s promote responsible journalism and avoid spreading fake news,” he added.
