The Rivers State High Court has sentenced Ifeanyi Dike and Ugochukwu Nwamiro to death by hanging. This is for the murder of Victory Chikamso, an 8yr old girl in Port Harcourt two years ago.
Justice Adolphous Enebeli gave the ruling in Port Harcourt today May 13 2020.
Ifeanyi Dike, uncle to the deceased Chikamso Victory Nmezuwuba, killed her and was said to have removed her body parts for alleged money ritual. Dike confessed to the police during interrogation, after his arrest that he was sent by one Ugochukwu Nwamiro, the second accused person to get body parts for money ritual.
Police officers attached to the Okporo Police Division arrested the suspect, as he was going to dispose the body of his victim. He was arraigned before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of Port-Harcourt High Court by the police. The state government later took over prosecution of the case, to ensure justice is properly served
Dike who escaped from police custody through the aid of a police officer, was rearrested in Jos, Plateau State. This was after the Rivers State Police Command promised to give the sum of N1 million to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest
The act drew public outcry and condemnation as people called for justice to be served on the matter. The case which has lingered for over two years, have now been brought to its conclusion, following the ruling of the court today May 13, 2020
