Senator Orji Kalu, representing Abia North, has said he would resign from the All Progressives Congress (APC) if President Bola Tinubu ever disrespects the Catholic Church.
Speaking on Wednesday during Politics Today on Channels Television, Kalu stressed that his loyalty to the Catholic faith is unwavering. He made the remarks while reacting to the controversy surrounding President Tinubu’s recent meeting with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), insisting that the president has shown no disrespect to the Church.
Kalu described Catholic priests as the conscience of the people, saying that while politicians may play politics with the affairs of the nation, priests should remain voices of truth and moral guidance. He also argued that the current economic hardship was not caused by President Tinubu, adding that the administration is addressing the challenges and that the results of its policies are already becoming visible.
