The Management of Ignatius Ajuri University of Education, has defended its decision to set a qualifying test for over 25 students of the institution that qualified with first class honors.
Spokesperson of the institution, Ngozi Okeredu, in a statement on Friday, said the test is part of measures put in place to ensure that such students merit the honors.
She said the test followed complaints by the National Youth Service Corp that the students performed poorly during their one year compulsory service to the nation.
She also said NYSC, had in the past complained that some first class graduates could not write their names.
Okeredu, noted that results of any student who fails the test will be investigated.
