Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has denied calling Governor Nyesom Wike a drunk.
Amaechi had while reacting to Wike’s criticism of the proposed Rehabilitation of the railway line by the Federal government in Rivers State, said he does not speak under the influence of alcohol.
The comment had since generated mixed reactions. But the minister in a statement today said he never called Wike a drunk.
“I only said that I don’t make statements under the influence of alcohol. Some people are attaching meaning to what I say,” he said.
Amaechi also stated that he won’t bring himself so low to discuss Nyesom Wike, as he was his staff when he held away as governor of the state.
“I don’t think I want to address the issue of the governor, I have made my point and I have moved on.
“He was my staff, I can’t bring myself low. I was a governor, I was also a speaker, I’m a minister. I was two-term chairman of governors’ forum. The same when I was a speaker. Why should I be discussing him?” he added.
