Nigeria’s House of Representatives is set to probe Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member representing Ideato federal constituency of Imo state over solidarity visit to the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara.
Hon. Yusuf Gagdi who was part of the visit, during Thursday’s plenary while moving a point of order, said his privilege as a member of the lower legislative chamber was breached because Ugochinyere misrepresented the visit by 60 legislators to Fubara few days ago.
According to him, after the visit to Fubara, Ugochinyere issued a statement, creating the impression that the lawmakers represented the house of representatives.
He said the lawmakers are members of the house of representatives on local content and were in Rivers for an oversight function but used the opportunity to visit Fubara.
After deliberating on the issue, the House referred Ugochinyere to the committee on ethics and privileges.
