The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has been dragegd before a Federal High Court in Abuja, by a Nigerian firm over alleged violation of the Public Procurement Act. The violation is over the award of contract for the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt- Maiduguri, Eastern Narrow Gauge Railway line.
The firm is alleging that the contract was awarded to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) without the consideration of the applications of other firms.
They alleged that the actions of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi contravened “the provisions of the public procurement Act as stipulated by the provision of Section 58 (5) (a) of the Public Procurement Act, 2007.”
They are asking the court to set aside the agreement between the Federal Government and the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) for the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail project.
