Gunmen have attacked Omoku Community in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State, killing at least four people, including the Chairman of the ONELGA Security Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC).
The attack, which threw the community into panic, occurred when heavily armed assailants opened fire, forcing traders to shut their shops and residents to flee for safety.
According to eyewitnesses, three of the victims were women. Reports also indicated that the attackers took away the body of the slain OSPAC chairman after the incident.
The motive for the attack remains unclear.
As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
