Chokocho-Igbodo Road in Etche Local Government Area that was constructed by Rivers State Government has been commissioned by His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The commissioning ceremony was held at Okomoko Community, Etche LGA on Monday, 6 March 2023. It was attended by top government functionaries in Rivers State, traditional rulers, and cultural groups from Etche Ethnic Nationality.
Providing the project description, Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS said the project is 27.12 kilometres long, and 11.3 metres wide.

“For the drains we have a total of 22.01 kilometres, with a wall thickness of 150 millimetres.
“Across the alignment we have a total of 16 culverts. We also have 6 discharge points to channel water to designated catchment areas,” he added.
In his remarks before commissioning the project, Governor Nyesom Wike maintained that the current state of the road has made the people forget how deplorable it was about 12 months ago.
“Now that the road is very good, we have forgotten how bad it was 12 months ago. You will appreciate this project more if you juxtapose the before picture with the after picture.
“My administration has always fulfilled our promise to Rivers people. We promised you that we were going to do Igwuruta-Chokocho Dual Carriageway, we did it. We have fulfilled all the promises we made to the people of Etche Local Government Area, including siting a campus of the Rivers State University here,” the Governor said.
