Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Rivers State, obo Effanga has charged women to challenge what he termed “anti-women” policies in political parties.
Effanga, made the call during a one day workshop organized by the Rivers State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, to encourage the participation of women in politics, in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.
According to him, there are few women at the helm of affairs in political parties, which results in policies not favourable to them.
The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Ipalibo Harry on her part, urged women to get involved in politics and governance, so as to make a difference.
she said, the changes women desire, cannot just occur unless they get invoved both at the National and State levels.
Mrs. Ipalibo also urged women to ensure they get their Permanent Voters Cards to elect credible leaders in 2023.
