The Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike has revealed that he will support former Governor of the State and current Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi if he decides to contest the 2023 presidential election. The governor said this in a live interview programme on Arise Television.
Governor Wike also said during the interview that Amaechi will get his backing only if he runs on the platform of his party, the People’s Democratic Party and not the All Progressives Congress. This is if the PDP zones the presidency to the south-south region, he stated.
The governor who has been at loggerheads with the minister on different occasions said it would amount to anti-party activity for him to support Amaechi, if he runs on the platform of the APC, as he is not a member of the party.
There have been rumours making rounds that the current minister of transportation might vie for the number one office, in the land come 2023.
