Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has donated food items to the people of Omuma Local Government Area. This is to help cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state occasioned by the COVID-19.
Chairman of the State Palliative Committee, Desmond Akawor while delivering the items, yesterday in Omuma, stated that the foodstuffs are not meant for members of any political party, but the poor and vulnerable in the LGA.
Gov. Wike noted that due to the complaints from the people of the state against the committee, 5 Civil organisations and Journalists have been added to ensure transparency. He thanked the people for their support while urging various ward representatives to ensure even distribution of the items.
In their remarks, the traditional ruler, assembly member and Chairman of the LGA, commended the Governor for the kind gesture.
This is coming after he had earlier distributed foodstuffs to the people of Ikwerre Local Government Area.
