Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State has stated that actions of his government are not targeted at anybody or any organisation in the state.
The state governor made the disclosure today at Government House Port Harcourt, when the Management Team of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited paid him a courtesy visit.
Wike alleged that sixty percent of the COVID-19 cases recorded in the state are oil workers returning from rigs. He said it is for this reason, he mandated that all oil workers coming into the state be tested for the virus. This is to ascertain their COVID-19 status.
Wike noted that recently, three oil workers tested positive out of the 14 quarantined at the Nigeria Airforce Base, Port Harcourt. He denied the claims by people that they don’t want foodstuff and livestock into the State.
What we are saying is that human beings should not be hidden with these items, Gov. Wike stated.
The Executive Director of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, Mr. Udobong Ntia in his remark commended the state governor for the measures put in place to curb the spread of COVID 19 in the state. He assured Gov. Wike of the company’s support, while promising that the organization will abide by the state government’s directives
