Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi has reacted to questions on why local contractors are not given rail contracts in the country.
Amaechi, in a statement on Saturday, described local contractors as “commission agents” adding that giving them such contracts would be signing death warrants of Nigerians.
He said contractors must have at least five years experience in rail construction amongst others and indigenous contractors have failed to meet these requirements.
“Most of these local contractors can be likened to ‘commission agents’ and considering them for such projects is tantamount to signing the death warrants of Nigerians,” he said.
