The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS has threatened to shutdown the country if the Federal Government goes ahead with its planned fuel subsidy removal.

National President of the Association, Sunday Asefo disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, Today.

He called on the government to rescind its decision as the effect would be too harsh on Nigerians.

Asefo, also called on Nigerians to be on the alert for further directives on their next line of action, adding that the union will do everything within its powers to resist the plan.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, had announced that the government would remove fuel subsidy and replace it with a monthly N5,000 transport grant to about 40 million poor Nigerians.
