Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, on Tuesday visited the State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire that gutted a section of the building on Monday.
Speaking with journalists during the visit, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost and that the damage was minimal.
“I visited the Rivers State Secretariat this morning to see the scene of yesterday’s fire incident. We thank God that no life was lost and that the damage was limited. This is a wake-up call to begin full renovation of our Secretariat immediately,” the governor stated.
Fubara commended the State Fire Service for their swift response to the emergency and lauded the commitment of civil servants in the state.
He assured that his administration remains committed to improving the working environment for public servants and to advancing the welfare of Rivers people.
