Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with the Church, emphasizing its crucial role in promoting peace and development.
Speaking at the Standing Committee Meeting of the Bishops of the Anglican Communion, Church of Nigeria, held at St. Cyprian Anglican Church, Port Harcourt, Fubara acknowledged the spiritual significance of the gathering. He stated that the presence of clergy and their prayers signal divine support for the state’s progress.
The governor outlined key governance priorities that align with the Church’s mission, including security, healthcare, welfare, and youth development. He noted that his administration has already invested N5 billion in youth empowerment initiatives.
According to him, government alone cannot do it all noting that the Church is a vital partner in building a better society.
As part of his support for the Church’s activities, the governor announced a N500 million donation to the Anglican Church to aid its programs in 2025.
