MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “Is this thing done by my Lord the King, and thou hast not showed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my Lord the king after him” (1Kgs.1:27)
READ: 1 KINGS 1:20-27
20 And thou, my lord, O king, the eyes of all Israel are upon thee, that thou shouldest tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him. 21 Otherwise it shall come to pass, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon shall be counted offenders. 22 And, lo, while she yet talked with the king, Nathan the prophet also came in. 23 And they told the king, saying, Behold Nathan the prophet. And when he was come in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground. 24 And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne? 25 For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God save king Adonijah. 26 But me, even me thy servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and thy servant Solomon, hath he not called. 27 Is this thing done by my lord the king, and thou hast not shewed it unto thy servant, who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?
Wisdom directs you to the right people and gives you the right approach and words to speak. Nathan and Bathsheba teamed up to see that the purpose of God was established in the land. As the national prophet in the land and a personal friend to David, Nathan had access into the King’s presence. He chose his words wisely to convince the king to do the needful. Normally, new kings came into power when the old king was dead. Here again wisdom spoke. David knew that with the influence Adonijah had gathered around him, it would be difficult for Solomon to ascend the throne after his death. Wisely, he did the unusual, installed a new king while he was still alive.
Sometimes wisdom breaks existing protocols to fulfill God’s purpose. This is where flexibility comes in. With wisdom present, battles are won without bullets and future battles are averted.
Adonijah had fortified himself waiting for any opposition so he could strike but wisdom de-robed him without much ado. I don’t know the battle facing you right now. Whether in the family, office or church, wisdom wins always. Though sometimes wisdom operations may look weak and unrealistic, yet it yields great victories without wounds. To regain your lost position in your office, your husband’s heart or anywhere else, let wisdom take the lead. Wisdom and humility are friends, they work together to reclaim lost grounds and establish new order.
TURNING POINT: Though sometimes wisdom operations may look weak and unrealistic, yet it yields great victories without wounds.
PRAYER POINT: Father, fill me with Your wisdom and help me to walk in humility.
