MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she Judged Israel at that time”. (Judg.4:4).
READ: JUDGES 4:1-5
And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
It is a great thing that today, all over the world, the role of women in nation and church building is being recognized and utilized. Deborah the woman of our text lived at a time in Jewish history when nothing was said about women in public and religious matters.
The oil for ministry was released upon her by Heaven and she swung into action immediately. The Bible records that she was a prophetess; that means she was God’s mouth piece for His people. The most interesting part of this story is that the whole land was in total darkness.
The life and ministry of Deborah became a shining light, bringing hope and assurance. It was a season of apostasy yet, Deborah distinguished herself and became a mother in Israel (Judg.5:7). Again, in the political arena she was relevant. She Judged Israel at that time (vs4). Her chamber was under a palm tree called “the palm Tree of Deborah”.
The grace of God does not discriminate between genders, all He requires is faithfulness. I want to encourage all our women folks to arise in this season of God’s outpouring of power and do exploits for the Kingdom. I want to stress that every woman has a role to play in the building of a better society beginning with her family.
Deborah, though a prophetess and a judge, was still a wife to her dear husband Lapidoth. Maintaining a healthy balance between ministry, social life and family is the glory of every woman of destiny.
TURNING POINT: Maintaining a healthy balance between ministry, social life and family is the glory of every woman of destiny.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to discover my place of assignment and key in appropriately.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2KNG.20,21,22; JN.6:45-71
