MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine“ (Lev.20:26)
READ: ROM.12: 1-3
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
The doctrine of separation is as old as the bible itself. In the creation process God separated the heavens from the earth, He separated the light from the darkness, separated day and night. He consciously separated the waters from the dry ground and called them their different names. After the fall when He wanted to establish a covenant He called out Abraham and commanded him to separate from his kindred, his nation and his own people (Gen.12:1-3). The essence of separation is for proper performance in whatever role that is assigned to you.
When God brought Israel out of Canaan, there was a large expanse of land for them to co-inhabit with the Amorites and Canaanites but God choose to wipe all those people out of the land to separate His people from the idol worshipping nations so they can serve Him in Holiness. Today, He bids us to separate from all worldly ties and relationship so we can serve Him with a perfect heart.
To refuse to separate yourself from the world is to ignorantly accept being destroyed with the world. When God came to judge Sodom and Gomorrah, the first thing He did was to ask Lot to separate himself from the land (Gen. 19:12-13). There is no option to separation. You must consciously step out of all forms of conformity with the world so as to do the will of God.
TURNING POINT: To refuse to separate yourself from the world is to ignorantly accept being destroyed with the world.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, help me to separate myself unto You.
