MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “O house of Israel, can’t I do with you as this potter? Saith the Lord behold as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in my hand, O house of Israel. (Jere.18:6).
READ: JERE. 18: 1-6
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. 5 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
Yesterday, we saw that the process of making can be interrupted or completely stopped by wrong attitude, disobedience and willingness to submit when the road seems dark. This is exactly what God meant, when He asked the house of Israel, “can’t I do with you as this potter does to the clay.” Invariably, God is saying O house of Israel, can’t you trust me enough as the clay trusts the potter so that I can make something beautiful out of your life. Brother Job understood this secret. Though in a terrible situation of pain and rejection, he held on strongly unto the Lord.
At a point he said, “ye though heslay me yet I will trust him.” (Job. 13:15). A destiny entrusted to Jehovah; the God of covenant can never suffer shipwreck. Remember Jesus said, “follow me and I will make you”. The word follow can be interpreted as submit to me, believe me even when you don’t understand, confide in me, surrender all the pieces to me.
Only then I will make you. Comparing the lives of most of the apostles, from the beginning of their calling in the gospels and their record of Acts of Apostles you will understand that Jesus actually fulfilled His promise. In fact, their lives were so transformed and conformed to Christ that the unbelievers in Antioch had to nicknamed them Christians (Acts .11:26), surrender your all to Him, He will make something beautiful out of your life.
TURNING POINT: A destiny entrusted to Jehovah; the God of covenant can never suffer shipwreck.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, have Your way and perfect Your purpose in me.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2Chron.32,33; JN.18:24-40
