MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.” (2Pt.3:18)
READ: 2PT.3:16-18
16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
By his death and resurrection Jesus purchased salvation for all of mankind . “Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the whole world (Jn.1:29). By His grace we received salvation and justification unto life eternal. Yesterday, we saw from the book of Hebrew that our salvation is the starting point of our work with God. Today Apostle Peter brings it closer home, encouraging us to grow in grace. Growing in grace means developing more spiritual capacities to know and serve God better. It means moving higher in knowledge and understanding of the spiritual truths. Looking at the life of Apostles of Christ, the picture is clearer.
Jesus met and called all of them at different locations but on the common ground of ignorance and unbelief. Some were religious while others were publicans. They walked with Christ all through His stay here on earth displaying their ignorance and lack of faith at various points. After the death and resurrection of Christ, they waited in the upper room until they were filled with Holy spirit; their story changed and they became World changers because of their personal encounter with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Growing in Grace Means manifesting Christ for the world to see and appreciating His goodness. The extent of your obedience and submission to His will is a function of the extent of your spiritual level. Spiritual growth is a continuous process throughout life until we see His face in glory.
TURNING POINT: The extent of your obedience and submission to His will is a function of the extent of your spiritual levels.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, lead me unto higher grounds, I pray thee.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: PS.1,2,3; ACTS 16:1-15
