MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it” (Jere 18:4).
READ: JEREMIAH 18:1-4
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. 4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
The story of clay and the potter illustrated in this passage of the Bible is a clear representation of God’s dealings with His people. When Jesus called Simeon, an ignorant fisher man into the ministry, the terms were simply follow me, and I will make you. God is still using this formula today in all His dealings with His people. Unfortunately, some people want to make themselves before they answer God’s call. Some sinners will say Ah! I am too filthy; can God accept me like this?
They want to reform themselves before they finally yield to God. My friend, it doesn’t work that way. It is not in your power to make yourself; God want to make you. In the story of our text, we saw that the vessel the potter made was marred; be broke and began afresh. It is possible that the situations and challenges of life have broken you down in some way, the Potter is not tired, He is not frustrated because of your present condition.
He is willing to rebuild your broken walls and give you a new beginning if you will let Him. Every beautiful outfit you put on and look gorgeous, went through the razor and scissors of designer. And at some point, it went through the process of sewing, knitting machine to become that beautiful piece. Truncating your process of making by disobedience to God’s instruction, or any other negative attitude amounts to self-destruction and unfulfilled dreams.
TURNING POINT: Truncating your process of making by disobedience to God’s instruction, or any other negative attitude amounts to self-destruction and unfulfilled dreams.
PRAYER POINT: Make me Lord, what You want me to be.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2Chron. 29,30,31; JN.18:1-23.
