MEDITATION SCRIPTURE: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.’(1pt.2:9)
READ: 2TIM.2:19-22
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. 21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Understanding who you are is the first step towards the pursuit of your purpose in life. When you don’t understand your calling, you will be distracted by the trivial issues of life. In Christ, ours is a higher calling. Just like the physical Israel that was called out by God from all other nations of the world through their father Abraham to be a peculiar people unto the Lord, so are we called out and separated unto God as a peculiar people. Because Israel did not understand their calling and position in God’s plan they fell constantly into idolatry and the lifestyle of the heathen around them. This often led to judgment and destruction because God will not share His glory with a any man. Today’s church has fallen into the same pit of competition with the World. We are in the World; we don’t belong here. As a royal priesthood we have the spiritual responsibility of offering unto the Lord spiritual sacrifices.
Every priest has two levels of ministry. These includes: ministering to the deity that choose him into Priesthood and, ministering to the worshippers of such deity. This is our place in God. We are called to offer spiritual sacrifices unto the Lord and minister to Brethren unto edification. No priest entangles himself in the affairs of ordinary people. He stands out as an oracle and a guide to the people. This is our calling to shine as light. Showing forth His praise and calling to men and women to the light.
TURNING POINT: Every secret leaked to a household enemy through looseness of tongue is a potential dagger that may piece your heart in future.
PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, deliver my soul from all the activities of household enemies.
