The Federal Government in its bid to reduce cost of governance and eliminate the duplication of functions by several departments and agencies has resolved to implement the Oronsaye report.
Announcing this after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris said amongst the agencies to be scrapped is the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), while National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) is to be merged under Minister of health, this in order to rationalise the Federal Civil Service.
The Minister clarified that this does not mean that the workers employed under these MDAs that have been scrapped or merged will be thrown out of jobs, however, these workers will be redeployed to other paratatals and agencies of government.
Giving a breakdown of the affected ministries and agencies, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman said the President approved a committee to ensure that the necessary legislative work is done for the smooth implementation of the Oronsaye Report, and the committee is to be chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
