Governor Nyesom Wike has accused the Buhari-led Federal Government, of shielding former governor of the State and current Minister of Transportstion, Chibuike Amaechi, from prosecution despite being unable to account for $308 million, after he left office as Governor.
Wike made this known during the inauguration of the Omuoko-Omokiri link Road, in Ikwerre Local Government Area on Wednesday.
He said the $308 million was realised after Amaechi sold the State-owned power plant, and some other asset belonging to the state government.
“People gave you an opportunity. You (Amaechi) sold our property for $308 Million and kept $208,000 for us,” he said.
The Governor also said that at a time when the rest of the world was building standard gauge railway, it was disingenuous for the Federal Government to commission the rehabilitation of a narrow gauge railway.
Wike also accused Amaechi of influencing the posting of the commissioner of Police and the General officer Commanding the Nigeria Army to the state .
