The Federal Government has announced that Friday, 3rd April, and Monday, 6th April 2026, will be public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter festivities.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the declaration on behalf of the government, extending warm Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria and the diaspora.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister encouraged Nigerians to embrace the values of selflessness, forgiveness, forbearance, and love as taught by Jesus Christ.
He further urged citizens to uphold tolerance and community spirit, which are essential for national unity, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to decisions that foster national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
The Minister wished all Christians a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration.
