Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended Udoma David Ekeh, a TikTok user, for circulating false information regarding the Commission and its officers.

According to a statement from the EFCC, in December 2025, Ekeh falsely claimed that some operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate were kidnapped by bandits in Kwara State and that a large ransom was demanded for their release.

The Commission confirmed that these reports were entirely fabricated and that Ekeh used his TikTok account to mislead and incite the public, undermining the EFCC’s efforts to combat internet fraud.

Preliminary investigations further revealed that Ekeh is involved in a romance scam, impersonating a foreigner named Garg Carta on Facebook. The EFCC stated that he will be charged to court at the earliest opportunity
