Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged to intensify the rollout of infrastructure projects in a bid to frustrate critics of President Bola Tinubu, stating that their discontent will only deepen as the administration delivers more developments.
Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) connecting Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), alongside other completed roads in Katampe District of Abuja. The event was officiated by President Tinubu.
The minister said he had observed growing resentment among some individuals towards Tinubu’s administration, which he attributed to the president’s performance since taking office in 2023.
“I didn’t realise people could be in such pain,” Wike said, referencing his reaction to televised commentary about Tinubu. “Now I know, and my job is to keep giving them high blood pressure with more good works.”
Wike reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Tinubu’s vision for the capital, saying the government would not be deterred by political opposition.
