Isaac Fayose, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of allegedly grabbing public lands in Abuja for the construction of supermarkets.
Fayose made the allegations in a statement in which he claimed that several supermarket projects were springing up at different locations in the nation’s capital, describing them as similar to Hypercity supermarkets in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He referred to the projects as “WikeCarrefour,” alleging that one was built on a green area along Bola Ahmed Tinubu Street, not far from the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) office.
According to him, a second supermarket was under construction on land allegedly belonging to the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) at the Central Business District.
Fayose also identified another location at the entrance bridge to Guzape, coming from Muhammadu Buhari Way in Garki, opposite the head office of Dantata and Sawoe.
He further alleged that the biggest of the projects, a multi-storey structure, was being developed on a memorial site in Jabi, adjacent to an AA Rano facility.
Fayose also mentioned Ushafa as another location where a similar project was situated.
Expressing his intention to challenge what he described as the alleged grabbing of public lands, Fayose said he hoped to approach the High Court in Abuja on May 29, 2027, under a new government, to seek the recovery of the affected properties.
He, however, did not provide documentary evidence to substantiate the allegations in the statement.
Wike was yet to react to the claims as of press time.
