Babafemi Adegbite, One of the lawyers to detained lawmaker, Hon. Farah Dagogo has said that the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, may not have a governorship candidate for next year’s election, if the party’s guber primary is conducted without his client.
Adegbite in a statement said there is no way the exercise can go on without Farah, because he bought forms and presented himself for screening.
According to him, it would amount to “unlawful exclusion” if that happens.
He also noted that the primary has not been concluded, and that something can still be done to accommodate Farah.
“There is no way the process (governorship) can go on without Hon. Farah Dagogo because he bought the expression of interest form and nomination at N21 million. He submitted all his documents and presented himself for screening. So if the process goes on without him, it amounts to unlawful exclusion,” he said.
“I want to sound a note of warning. Even though he is in detention, he is not taking it lying low; the party in Rivers State stands the risk of not having a candidate if he pursues his legal right,” he added.
