Some women this morning, embarked on a peaceful protest to the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, over the attack on Leader of the Etche Legislative Assembly, Hon Cynthia Nwala.
The women, who carried placards with inscriptions like “stop violence against women” sang as they marched along major streets.
According to sources, the women spent hours in front of the government house, but no government official came out to address them.
Some of them in a chat with journalists, said they are sad over the incident. They said Hon. Nwala was assaulted simply because she is a woman.
They called on the Police to investigate the matter and ensure those found culpable are dealt with.
