TEXT: JOHN 19:1-16
MEMORY VERSE: “… and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your king!” (John 19:14).
In the heat of the trial and the Jewish quest for Jesus’ crucifixion, Pilate presented unto them a strong message of truth and prophetic declaration of the mind of God for the world “…Behold your king.” But blinded by ignorance and selfish desires, they failed to see the reality of Jesus’ Kingship.
Jesus Christ is the Lord of lords and King of kings: “… and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and the King of kings…” (Rev. 17:14). “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, Kings of kings, and Lord of lords” (Rev. 19:16). Pilate’s declaration is a divine revelation and a pointer to who Jesus is, not only to the Jews at that time but to us today, also. He is our King! There is none else!
Since this is so, what then should be our attitude towards Him? What should be our response to this knowledge?
We should truly believe in Him as our Lord and Saviour. The evidence that we believe is that we obey Him willingly. If we fail or refuse to obey His, it shows that we have not truly accepted Him as our Lord and Saviour. In Luke 6:46 He said, “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” Butif we truly believe in Him, we would not be condemned (John 3:18).
We should receive Him as our Lord and Saviour, and into our heart. John 1:12 says, “For as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God…” There are heights you may never reach in life until you receive Him. There are dimensions of realms you may never operate, and powers of God you may never experience until you receive Him.
When we believe in Him and receive Him into our hearts, we would be able to submit ourselves under His Lordship. This would lead to humble obedience and loyalty. Our Christian life would be pure, and we would align ourselves to the ways of God. We would be His Kingdom citizens.
- Realize in all circumstances that Jesus remains the King. Submit yourself to Him willingly.
- Pray God to give the spirit of obedience.
