ESOCS Devotional 6 March 2021
TEXT: HOSEA 2:16-35
MEMORY VERSE: “Then the Lord told me, “Go and love your wife again, even though she commits adultery with another lover. This will illustrate that the Lord still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods and love to worship them.” Hosea 3:1 NLT
God in His wisdom knows that darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that; that is why, despite all we do against Him, He still shows us His unfailing love. Despite our shortcomings, God still shows us how deeply He loves us; showering us with blessings unspeakable. In this life, we know it is somehow impossible for a man to love his wife again whom he knows commits adultery; but God used Hosea to teach us about His love for us (John 3:16, Rom. 5:8).
What is that thing you think that you have done that is too heavy? God is willing and ready to accept you back. He is not the one that goes away from us; we are the one that run away from Him.
On the other hand, we should behave like our father behaves by being able to forgive and accept willingly anyone that offends us. In so doing, we can show the world how different we are to them, as God’s children.
