TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 6:1-12
MEMORY VERSE: “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”Deuteronomy 6:5 KJV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
This is an important question you must ask yourself today. Do not assume you love the Lord simply because you engage yourself in religious activities. You might be judging this instance from the perspective of being a church attendee, based on your charisma, and liveliness in serving the church, and especially as one who climbs the pulpit. You could do all these and still not love the Lord.
Loving the Lord is giving all of you to Him, and to allow your will become lost in His. You love God with ALL your HEART, with ALL your SOUL and with ALL your MIGHT. This means selfless and total dedication to God Almighty without exception. Moreover, the good way to prove that you love Him right is when you keep His commandments.
In John 14:15, our Lord Jesus Christ said, “If you love me, keep my commandments” He promised to ask the Father to send you a Comforter (the Holy Spirit) to abide with you forever. This may not happen if you don’t keep His commandment – the new commandment (John 13:35).
Not loving the Lord genuinely would make you not to seek Him, and not to dedicate “your all” to Him. This would make you struggle in life because you can’t receive from whom you don’t love and seek, even when the person gives you freely (Matt. 6:33.)
- Today, genuinely seek the Lord, love Him with all of you and dedicate yourself to Him, and you shall rise tremendously.
- Lord, teach me how to love you above all things else.
