TEXT: EZEKIEL 33:1-9
MEMORY VERSE: “He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; His blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul” (Ezekiel 33:5 KJV).
God does not do anything without first communicating His children: “And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do?”(Gen. 18:17). The communication is to help prepare our hearts for what is about to come and provide us with a direction to go in life. They could either be His promises or precautionary statements, as evident in our text, which is seen as a warning.
It is important we note that for every hearing, there should be a corresponding action. Unfortunately, many persons are hearing but end up doing nothing with what is heard. Every warning sign you get per time, whether seeing with the eyes, hearing with the ears or perception in the spiritual and physical all come for a purpose, and here are a few of them:
Forceful U-Turn: There are warning signs you get that require an immediate reversal action. We must therefore watch out for those signs God brings our way that requires a forceful total turn around without hesitation.
Caution Application: Seeing, they say, is believing. There are certain persons that may never apply caution to their life, until they see a sign. The warning signs come to help us curtail our excesses in life.
Danger Escape: To be forewarned is to be fore armed. Every sign you receive is an empowerment to escape the dangers ahead. Our text confirms to us that to forget the warning is to be doomed and destroyed.
Interestingly, the Matthew gospel Chapter 24 gives us a clear light to all the signs that we must watch out for as Christians; and without mincing words, these signs have all manifested. Therefore, there is no better time to heed the warning than now.
- Pay attention to the warning signs God gives you always.
- Father, thank you for being mindful of us always.
