TEXT: 1 KINGS 1:5-31
MEMORY VERSE: “… Assuredly Solomon thy son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead, even so will I certainly do this day.” I Kings 1:30
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
As we grow in life, we aspire to be what we desire. This makes us get education, learn a trade or get one training or the other in preparation for attaining our set goal.
But it is always good to pursue our dream in accordance with the will of God. Adonijah desired to be king after his father David, but failed to seek the face of God in achieving that. He excluded God in his plans. When you exclude God in your life’s program you have planned to fail. Adonijah failed indeed (vs. 5-10).
Those who pursue their live dreams and desires according to the will of God never fail. If men fail you, God will raise helpers to enable your success. In our text, we see how Nathan the prophet piloted the case for Solomon. When Adonijah got all the people to a feast to make himself king, the prophet of God stood up to canvass the case of Solomon. But Solomon did not know about it. He went about his life to please God (v 11). God knows the plan He has for each one of us. He will execute it in His own way.
Our duty as Christians is to pray and trust God. Do the best you can and live the rest for God. Christians do not get their desire by all means. They subject their dreams and desire to the will of God.
- Do you have the understanding to subject your dream to the will of God?
- Let your will prevail in my life, Oh LORD, in Jesus Name. Amen.
