TEXT: GENESIS 1:1-10
MEMORY VERSE: “And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” (Genesis 1:2).
God is God, for whom He is; and no creature can comprehend His person, the totality or completeness of His being. The only thing we know is that He is holy and righteous altogether. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent; the Almighty God who in Himself is eternity personified; the Creator and Commander of heaven and earth. The God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing (Rom. 4:17). The God whose name alone is Jehovah. There is none else!
He created the earth from nothing; “the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” He dwells in ineffable light, the light that drives away darkness, and “The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it” (John 1:5 NIV); and that light personifies Him, and He personifies the Light. There is something about His power. It is not just rooted in Himself; it is rooted in the purity of His holiness.
All peoples were created to be like Him in the purity of soul, holiness, and righteousness. We were to possess the likeness of His power and be creative as He is. But the problem is that we have failed to be holy as He is; and the power, which He were to bestow on us were to be carried in vessel without blemish.
Let us strive to be as pure as He is, for then would we be as powerful and creative as He is. Sin makes our light dull, and the potency we should carry in us is made ineffectual. If we live the right kind of life, God’s Spirit will dwell in us and we would be exactly as He is, in His image and likeness, carrying and demonstrating His omnipotent power. Like Him, we would be able to create something out of nothing.
- Search your life and remove all impurities that make you not to be like God.
- Father, give me power to overcome sin and live right.
