TEXT: 2 KINGS 12:1-19
MEMORY VERSE: “Moreover, they did not require an accounting from the men into whose hands they delivered the money to be paid to the workmen, for they dealt faithfully” 2 Kings 12:15 (Amp)
The men ‘dealt faithfully’. This was a great testimony, and a witness about them forever. They were given money for the labourers. They conducted themselves in a manner that made it possible for people to trust them. They were honest and sincere. They were not fraudulent or dubious. They did not short-change the workers but paid them in full. In all that they did, they were forthright, and faithful. Therefore, there was no need to audit them.
The men lived a life of integrity. They did not play pranks with God’s money; and there is no record or report that they cheated anyone. They carried out all transactions with sincerity; and there was nothing that smeared their good names.
Honesty is priceless; and those who practise it have their names written in the Book of Life. If we are blameless in the things we do in private or public, we make God proud to call us His children, and He will not be ashamed to be called our God (Heb. 11:16).
Let us learn to offer services, and work plainly with a clean heart; and to do so without ulterior motives. Purity of heart would enable us develop the attributes of Christ; we would possess His virtues too.
We would give account of our stewardship in all that we do on earth. The striking question is, have we ‘dealt faithfully’ in our relationship with God, in His work, with other people, in the errands we undertake in the church of God, and the like? Let us think about these things and more.
- Train yourself to be faithful to God and people in all things.
- Lord, give me the heart to be faithful to you always.
