TEXT: GENESIS 1:1-31
MEMORY VERSE: “Then God blessed them and God said to them be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28 NKJV
Being made in God’s image means we were created to lead; that is why he said that we should have dominion. The gift of dominion is for man to apply it to the glory of God and benefit of mankind. He gave us the mental ability to think out solutions to life challenges. We are fearfully and wonderfully made to excel in life.
Both men and women have been given the ability and authority to lead. We are to rule over the earth but not necessarily over each other; but over the earth’s creatures. History is largely the story of how men and women have perverted their God given roles by trying to rule each other. Men prefer to exploit others to excel in whatever they do, not minding the outcome. All of us are to serve one another in the areas of our gifting and purpose; each of us is to lead, but in which area? Let us explore the areas God wants us to lead. Our leadership is best exercised in the area we have comparative advantage. When we discover our gift, we will naturally lead in those areas where we are most productive, intuitive, comfortable, influential, and satisfied. “Imitation is limitation”.
