TEXT: ISAIAH 10:20–27
MEMORY VERSE:
“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing” (Isaiah 10:27 KJV).
We all would prefer to live in comfort. As good as this is, we need to know there are times that we go through struggles in life. Some of these struggles are unbroken yokes and we experience different kinds of yoke in our individual lives.
A YOKE, is a spiritual bondage. It limits, controls, and holds our progress in life in captivity. It is a spiritual difficulty that places limitations on one’s progress in life. God can place a yoke on one’s life as in the case of Cain (Genesis 4:11-12). A parental yoke can be placed upon someone like the yoke placed upon Esau by his father Isaac (Genesis 27:38-40). It can be hereditary in one’s foundation, programmed into one’s life by evil powers, or it can be self-inflected, such as when Saul disobeyed God (1 Samuel 15:22-23). These yokes hinder one’s progress in life, and they must be broken.
As Christians, the anointing of the Holy Spirit breaks us free from any yoke of captivity and sets us free (Luke 4:18). Through the help of the Holy Spirit, the yoke can only be broken using the Blood of Jesus (Revelation 12:11), effective praise and worship, prayer and meditation on God’s Word, day and night. Some stubborn yokes cannot be completely broken, unless through fasting, prayers, deliverance. We must not give up until the yoke is broken and our heaven is open.
In Matthew 11:29, our Lord said, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus’ yoke is an assurance of eternal life, and He will give us rest on every side. Psalm 92:10 says, “You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.” Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, whose death, burial, and resurrection gave us victory over the enemy. For those yet to surrender their lives to Jesus, this is not negotiable; do so now, tomorrow might be too late! DO IT NOW!
- What are those things that are limiting you from achieving God’s purpose in your life? Pray about them and ask God to deliver you from them.
- Lord, I repent of my sins, come into my heart and be my Lord and Saviour; break every yoke in my life and set me free through thy anointing.
