TEXT: EXODUS 13:3-10
MEMORY VERSE: “Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.” Exodus 13:3
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
There are times in life when God shows his power to deliver, heal or bless in an extra-ordinary way. We must keep the memory of such times and find an affordable means to celebrate them.
There is no doubt that the deliverance of Israel from Egypt took an extra-ordinary and unique dimension that has not been replicated in human history. God brought them out by the strength of His hand. As God’s people, God instructed Israel to celebrate the Passover feast as an annual festival. This is the will of God. In verse 3, Moses said to Israel: “… Remember this day in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out ….” (vs. 3-7).
There is nothing as profitable in one’s life as to learn and practice biblical instructions. Take time to learn and practice traditions instituted by God. This is one of the reasons why the gospel message is written and made available to us (Joshua 3:5).
We should not be selfish with the knowledge we get from the Bible. We have a duty to spread biblical knowledge and profitable biblical traditions. Do not keep your children and all those close to you ignorant of God’s dealings with you and the fruits thereof. It will help to sustain godliness in the family and in the Church (vs. 8-10).
Today, we hear people express disappointment with late men of God who died with certain prayer formulas and skills. Let the coming generation not be so disappointed in us. Be generous in the place of knowledge sharing.
- What memory do you keep and how many of the Lord’s goodness have you passed on to your children and followers?
- Father, I thank you for all that you have done in my life. My mouth shall speak of your mercies all the days of my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.
