ESOCS Devotional 27 June 2026 – On a Blind Mission
MEMORY VERSE: “And said unto him, go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, sent). He went his way therefore, and washed and seeing.” John 9:7
TEXT: JOHN 9:1-12
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth. 2 And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. 4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. 7 And He said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who previously had seen that he was blind said, “Is not this he who sat and begged?”
9 Some said, “This is he.” Others said, “He is like him.”
He said, “I am he.”
10 Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”
11 He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”
12 Then they said to him, “Where is He?”
He said, “I do not know.”

God moves in a mysterious ways, His wonders to perform; no wonder His greatness is unsearchable, His modus operandi is unfathomable, none can predict God at any time. Every of His actions or statement or instructions are result oriented when complied to, as evident in our anchor text. How do you explain sending a blind man on a mission? The pool where he is sent to is not in any way near to him at all. How on earth can this man locate the pool seeing he has been blind all his life. In fact, the man did not know, had never seen, neither had he by chance had business to do with the pool. Worst still, he was directly instructed to go without any assistance.
Yet, the blind man mustered courage. He didn’t allow limitations stop him and so he threw away every hint of doubt. He launched into the instruction that appeared unrealistic, that was not sensible; yet, power filled and directed him towards accomplishing the purpose for which it was meant. I am sure that on the way, in the process of locating the pool and asking several questions, people may have discouraged him. The man followed the instruction of Jesus, not ready to be discouraged.
We don’t know where God has sent you in a blind mission that appears impossible, given your present challenges. You are asking, how will God expect me to function in the midst of my struggles? How can He tell me that I can still make it when no man has ever made it before in my life? Seeing that I know no man, how can it happen?
But we can assure you, He that promised you is able to perform it. He can bring out the result of whatever He told you. All that is required of you is obedience. The mission may appear blind just like Abraham when he was asked to leave his father’s house without any direct place (Genesis 12:1) or Peter who after toiling all night without catching any fish was again instructed to let down the same net he has washed this time, not for a catch but a drought (Luke 5:1-5).
As you obey God today, may you experience result in your area of need. Carryout that instruction with faith, refuse to yield to doubt and any discouragement around you. Your miracle will definitely manifest, in Jesus’ name.
Reflections
- Never doubt God’s instruction, no matter how vague it may seem.
- Obey God always with faith for the miraculous.
- Never get distracted while on mission, remain focused.
Prayer
- Father, I bless you for you are God and for the wonders you are doing in my life.
- Help me to always obey you, no matter what the instructions are to me.
