ESOCS Devotional 25 November 2023 – Jesus is Coming Soon
MEMORY VERSE:“And he spake to them a parable; behold the fig tree, and all the trees; when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.” Luke 21:29-36 KJV
TEXT: LUKE 21:29-36 (KJV)
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

From the passage, Jesus used the changes that happen to the fig tree and all the trees to describe the significance of the bad events of the last days. As a good Father, He did not stop at this, but admonished His disciples to keep a constant watch for His return. Although almost 2,000 years have passed since He spoke these words, their truth remains.
We are God’s children and His disciples. Jesus is also taking to us that He is coming again, so we need to watch and be spiritually fit. This means walking and working faithfully at the tasks God has given us. We should not allow our mind and spirit to be dulled by careless living and the cares of life. We should not allow the challenges of life as seen today to weigh us down.
What we see today is rationalization, that is, justifying wrong behaviors whereas the signs of His coming are getting thicker by the day. We should use God’s word to benchmark our behavior, watchful and pray.
Be ready to move at God’s command. Jesus is coming very soon. Remember, on the last day, ONLY true believers will be raptured, pronto!
