TEXT: ESTHER 4:4-17
MEMORY VERSE: “Then the king said, “What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?” And the king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him” (Esther 6:3 NKJV).
There is always reward for loyalty, and faithfulness. Mordecai had saved the life of the king. His kind deeds were forgotten. But at the appropriate time, God remembered him. He was made a royalty, and a prince in the land where he was in captivity. He shared the same grace and blessing with Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Faithfulness to God was their common factor. Mordecai refused to bow to Haman, and he was grossly hated for it.
Mordecai was loyal to King Ahasuerus. If we are faithful to the King of Heaven and Earth, He will do greater things for us. Our faithfulness would come from obedience to His word; and ensuring that we live by biblical principles. We should conduct our affairs by the ethics of the Christian faith; live a sanctified lifestyle, submit ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and dedicate our lives to acceptable moral practices and standards.
Mordecai honoured God with his life. While other servants bowed and paid homage to Haman, as the king had commanded, Mordecai refused to bow or pay homage to him (Esther 3:2).
As Christians, we should always identify with God our Creator, and honour Him with our whole life, holding nothing back. We should not bow to difficulties in life, the pressure from friends, relatives, colleagues, acquaintances or the world. Such attitude would prove that we are true Christians indeed; and our defence would be sure. Haman could not prevail against Mordecai because he was a true Jew (Esther 6:13).
Who does the King of Heaven and Earth delight to honour and bless? A person who runs away from sin and pursues righteousness and holy living with all his heart and mind.
- Live a life of faithfulness to God, and He will bless you.
- Lord, I will be faithful to you, only give me strength.
