TEXT: LUKE 8:1-15
MEMORY VERSE: “Now the parable is this: This seed is the word of God. Luke 8:11 KJV
In this world that we live in, there have been so many socio-cultural postulations, theories and philosophies put together by men that makes up for greatness. Well, these men who may have achieved some results upon which they build their theories may not be wrong, except that their postulations do not have it’s bearing from the word of God, it has no kingdom agenda (it makes no addition to the kingdom of God), and lastly, these theories have proven to be fruitful only for a moment and they fade away.
“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified” (Acts 20:32 KJV).
Apostle Peter reveals to us that when the word of God comes to us, it has the power:
- To build us up
- To give us an inheritance among them that are sanctified
From our text, we see Jesus classifying the people He preached to into four categories. No doubt, in the Christian faith, we still have people within the first three categories; but I tell you that the effectual potency of the word of God over your life depends on:
- Your prioritizing it
- How you love and cherish it
- Making God’s word the compass and coordinate of your life
In Psalm 119:92-100, David made a profound exhibition of how the word of God can transform a man’s life. Man, outside the word of God will never maximize his days. For us, by the word of God man was formed and by the same (the word of God) shall he function effectively.
Hear Jesus: “No! The Scriptures say, “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matt. 4:4 (NLT).
- What do you perceive as the prerequisite for greatness?
- Dear Lord, give me the grace to abide in your word, which is the sure way to greatness, in the name of Jesus Christ.
