ESOCS Devotional 22 July
TEXT: JOEL 2:21-31
MEMORY VERSE: “And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh.” Joel 2:28a
This prophecy of Prophet Joel was made manifest on the Pentecost day in Acts of the Apostles chapter two. On that day the disciples of Jesus Christ were filled with the Holy spirit. The term “filled with the Holy spirit” is used five times in Acts (Acts 2:4, Acts 4:8, 31, Acts 9:17, Acts 13:9).
Whenever one is filled with the Holy Spirit, one is empowered by the spirit of God to do exploit with a new life.
If you are filled with the spirit you should bear fruit of the spirit as in Galatians 5:22-23 as explained below:

- Love: Are you motivated by love?
- Joy: do you exhibit an unshakable joy, regardless of circumstances?
- Peace: do people see your inward peace and take courage?
- Longsuffering: do you wait patiently for result as you develop people or goals?
- Kindness: are you caring for people you meet?
- Goodness: do you want the best for other and the church?
- Faithfulness: are you keeping your commitment?
- Gentleness: is your strength under control? Can you be both tender and tough?
- Self-control: are you disciplined to make progress toward your goals?
CHALLENGES
- Are you filled with the Spirit of God?
- If yes, what fruit do you bear?
PRAYER POINT: Ask God to fill you with His spirit and to bear fruit of the spirit.
