TEXT: 2 KINGS 7:3-20
MEMORY VERSE: “And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, why sit we here until we die?” (2 Kings 7:3 KJV)
“Why sit we here?” is a critical question. It examines the several excuses we hold for not moving forward in life; for not living a righteous lifestyle; for not having a good marriage; for not starting or continuing what we ought to do. But there is no excuse except the one we create for ourselves. Nothing limits us until we make it real to our senses.
When we face challenges, we should not make excuses. We should confront them headlong and overcome. The Four leprous men entered a higher realm of living because they did see their condition as excuses. They took the initiative to confront the challenge they had and succeeded. We too should take the initiative to effect positive changes in unfavourable circumstances in our life.
Use your God-given potentials to move your life forward and higher. Let us search ourselves. We must not be downcast. Like David when he faced an unfavourable situation, “… encouraged himself in the Lord” (), and succeeded. This we ought to do too.
We may not know that God is standing by us and waiting for us to take the first step, and then, He would step into our situation, take over, and do the rest.
Right thinking and positive action are important in life. let us resolve to practise them in our life daily.
- Excuses do not solve problems; they retain, sustain, and magnify them. be mindful.
- Lord, give me courage to confront and overcome life’s challenges.
