TEXT: AMOS 5:6-24
MEMORY VERSE: “If you really want to live, you must stop doing wrong and start doing right. I, the LORD God All-powerful, will then be on your side, just as you claim I am. Choose good instead of evil! See that justice is done. Maybe I, the LORD all powerful, will be kind to what is left of your people.” Amos 5:14-15 CEV
0 And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida. 11 But when the multitudes knew it, they followed Him; and He received them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who had need of healing. 12 When the day began to wear away, the twelve came and said to Him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding towns and country, and lodge and get provisions; for we are in a deserted lace ”
Without any doubt, everyone lives life. We all want to live, so we are ready to fight death at all cost. It becomes ironical then to see people who want to live deliberately following the path of death. It is shocking to see people intentionally invite death to themselves when it can be avoided.
It is for this reason that God admonishes us in our text, providing us with the pathway to life. He wants us to do what is right both before God and man, so that we can live. You discover that when you do the right things, God Himself stays by your side. The meaning is that in your continued good doings you are guaranteed eternal life. So you don’t just live today, but life after here, settled!
Beloved, there is a great need for us to stop doing the wrong. We need to hate evil with passion. What benefit do we derive doing evil to ourselves, exhibiting injustice to one another? What reward do we get in living the wrong life that will deny us of the joy of true life? God in His infinite mercies today urges us to stop every wrong action and wrong living. Stop injustice. Start doing what is right and good.
- Hate evil, stop evil, run away from evil, and live rightly for God from today.
- Father, thank you for showing me the path to life. Help me to follow it that I may live, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
